You can ask and not ask people if you deserve to be something.
Asking is stupid. You, above anyone else alive or dead, know yourself thus, the answer. Even before the first word of the question. Even before the first phoneme. Way, way before the first breath that comes out as you open your mouth.
However asking, I mean sincerely asking, is humility. More than humility! It is accepting and exposing bare naked your weaknesses and incapabilities (play “Torn” here: lying naked on the floor).
But (actually, maybe) the point is not Asking The Question per se. It’s the So What.
It is always about the So What.
